Colin Davies

Today I met with Mr Colin Davies the Manager of Barry Communities First, and members of his staff. Mr Davies explained that 'Communities First' is a Welsh Government-funded project 'Tackling Poverty' that works in most parts of Barry. The team is based at the Community Enterprise Centre, in Gibbonsdown. The Present team have been working there since 2013. The team assists Barry residents find work and increases their level of skills to improve their chances of getting a job.
The project also provides help to Barry people wanting to lead healthier lifestyles and it works with almost every School in Barry to support pupils and parents achieve more. Unfortunately, due to the Welsh Government ending the Communities First programme across Wales, the project will finish in March 2018.
