Colcot Road Campus
To highlight Educational Opportunities in Barry last night I attended the Colcot Road Campus. Cardiff and Vale College held its first open evening of the 2017-18 academic year. This gave pupils, parents and adult learners the opportunity to discover more about the range of Career Focused courses, A Levels, Apprenticeships, Professional Qualifications and Higher Education Courses available. Visitors were able to view the fantastic facilities, receive information on student and learner support and were also able to visit the application zone to apply for a course. I met with Student Recruitment Officer Joanne Gower who works with High Schools across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan to provide advice and guidance to young people on the wide range of courses on offer at Cardiff and Vale College. Joanne provides school assembly talks, and workshops for pupils to help explain the application process and what to expect at a College interview. Joanne told me that 'supporting young people into College, seeing them succeed on their chosen career path and progress into Higher Education or an Apprenticeship is so rewarding'. A 'Year in Barry' would like to thank Joanne and wish all the students continued success in their chosen futures.
