Gareth Tyley
This is Gareth Tyley who for the last 50 years has uncovered Barry's long lost past. He first became interested in Archaeology back in 1965, after meeting local archaeologist Howard Thomas. In 1966 he founded the Barry Archaeological Group. Gareth is 'the last man standing' as all former group member have sadly passed away. They began work on their first excavation at Cliffwood Cottage Porthkerry in 1967. Gareth has carried out numerous excavations unearthing the history of Barry. Today I met him at the site of Porth-y-Castell where he was measuring up to make a scaled model of the Caste in clay which will eventually go on display.
